Teen Bullying - Ever Been Bullied? What’s the one word that hurt you the most?

One week before my mid-semester breaks, my lecturer, Mr K asked everyone in my class to do a still-image for Single Camera Production. Everyone does a great job. To be honest, I actually confused about what Mr K’s wants. Did he want a natural composition of image or image that is more like a photo shoot, model bla bla bla bla. And I did a photo shoot.

Bully

The idea actually came from the 2nd episodes of Americas Next Top Model where the model in the competition had to choose one Bully word and one Power word that is oppose to the bully word. The message is portrayed using their body languages. So, teen bullying is a huge issue because bullying is actually one of the leading causes of teen suicide. So the word ‘Jongos’ (protruding) in this photo is actually the bully word of the male model because he seemed to be like having protruding teeth. He heard this word every single day in high school. But the point is, word ‘Jongos’ did not define who would he became as an adult. So I as creative decided the word to be written all over his body and the photo basically was trying to show the fact that he dismisses the negativity and then shows that he is strong and power man. The photo revealed who he is really in the inside through his body language. He turned word ‘Jongos’ into word ‘Multi-talented’ that is beautiful and positive. Regarding the composition of this photo, the male model was photographed from the back of his body. This shows that male models are not really sure about its abilities and weaknesses. The pose of the models described sometimes he was afraid and unsure about his own ability. As we seen in this photo, these models looked upwards towards the light. I described the light as a dream of his life. He wants to achieve his dream. The stained wall is used for the backdrop of this photo because the stained wall depicts the journey of this man life, which will sometimes face the pleasures and hardships of life. If you look more closely at the photo, there is a hand that was holding the pen and the word is still being written. This reflects the public stigma against this man. Not to forget, the position of the word were written in raged since its position itself described the emotional instability in receiving those words in his life. The reason the word ‘Multi-talented’ was chosen personally by me because he is a very talented in theatre such as acting, dancing and singing. He also has been good in artistic writing. So, this is his best shot to portray the anti-bullying to all the teenagers outside.
